Saturday 31 August 2013

On Saturday we had the most important game of our season the final against Mount. After a very successful season were we finished top of the table and won our semi final. We put everything behind us and went out to win but in the first 10 minutes we were down 14/0. After that we scored 2 un answered tries and we missed both kicks. Halftime 14/10 to Mount.

In the second half we opened up the scoring with an amazing try. Un-converted score 14/15. The crowd were pumped, the pressure was on, they scored and the crowd was silent. Could we pull it back? they missed the kick we knew we still had a chance. There was still ten minutes to go. We score! The crowd erupt like a volcano and we get the most important kick of the season, score 19/22 to us. Still 10 minutes to go we hold them out and the final whistle goes. We did it! Could it be real?

Homework challenge E3

Visit to Tauranga Art Gallery

I must admit, when mum suggested that we visited the art gallery to help with my homework challenge, I wasn't that excited about the idea. I soon found out it was a really cool exhibition!
Running until 15th September you can see a the work of New Zealand artist Jeff Thomson. His exhibit is called Corrugations and shows lots of different techniques using corrugated metal. Some of his work is using heavier sheets, but he also displays delicate and detailed artwork. My favourite was a Morris Minor car which he completely re panelled in corrugated tin.
Also on display was a collection of work based on Mount Maunganui. My favourite of the day was a series by John McLean called Springheel Jack. It shows a man who always wears the same clothes, who used to be seen often at the Mount years ago, collecting shells and interesting things from nature. He lived in Otumotai was a well known character around town.
Enjoyed my visit!

For rugby this week we played Papamoa in witch we thought would be a tough game because they only just lost to TGA sports gold by 6 points  but we pulled through with a 56/14 win.

Saturday 15 June 2013

Bitter taste of defeat 22/21 to Tauranga gold.
This weeks game for the Greenpark Blazers they played Otumoetai Primary School and the Blazers  won 14/6. The other ref was a bit grumpy and she scared the kids a little and was moaning at me because she was telling me that the jump ball arrow was wrong.

The first half was a good half but it could of been better and at the end of the first half the score was 8/2
to the Blazers. The second half was much better and the blazers won by a margin of 8.

Saturday 8 June 2013

On Saturday morning I played rugby for the Greerton Marist Chargers U12 team and we played Te Puna who won the championship last year. We knew we had our work cut out for us. The first 20 Minutes the match was scoreless until they get a last minute unconverted try. Halftime score 0/5. We went in to halftime and coach had a pep talk with us and we went in to the second half ready for a battle. 10 minutes in we score in the corner. Try unconverted, score 5/5. Another battle over who will score next, we score again. With 7 minutes left try converted 12/5. A big battle in our 22with about 5 scrums until they score again. They miss the kick 12/10. Last minute we hold them out until we force a mistake. We win 12/10.

On Friday Mr Mossop was handing out the principal Award for Displaying Outstanding Critical Thinker Treats and then he called out my name and called me up the front and handed the award to me and I had a smile on my face.
In this weeks basketball game the Greenpark Blazers played Bethlehem Primary. The first half bethlehem's defence was hot so the Blazers struggled to break through and score. At the end of the first half the Greenpark blazers were down 20/4.

The second half was a great comeback with shots falling for the Blazers and hot defence and a lot of good turnovers. At the end of the game the score was 24/24.

The most existing part of the game was the final 15 seconds when the Blazers put up 2 shots and both just missing.

Well done Greenpark.

Yesterday after school I went to the QE2 to coach/ref one of my best friends little sisters team for basketball. I was doing this as part of my homework challenge because I thought it would be good to up my basket ball IQ and encourage young players to enjoy basketball.
